The Opportunity
The VP of Financial Planning & Business Insights was hired to lead the evolution of the company’s financial planning, forecasting, analytics, and business-insights capabilities.
Reporting directly to the CFO, this executive would own the planning and forecasting engine while building the systems, tools, and processes needed to support continued growth. The mandate combined strategic FP&A leadership with hands-on execution, commercial partnership, and financial infrastructure development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead annual planning, long-range planning, and rolling forecasts
- Build driver-based models across revenue, margin, expenses, and cash flow
- Develop integrated income statement, balance sheet, and cash-flow models
- Improve visibility into pipeline, bookings, recurring revenue, retention, and overall business performance
- Translate financial and operating data into clear, actionable insights
- Build a scalable FP&A and reporting environment beyond Excel
- Lead monthly, quarterly, executive, and Board reporting
- Develop financial narratives that clearly explain performance, risks, and opportunities
- Partner with Sales, Revenue Operations, and other business leaders
- Support deal-desk, pricing, and commercial decision-making
- Lead and develop FP&A and commercially aligned finance team members
Ideal Candidate Profile
The successful candidate would bring:
- Significant FP&A leadership experience with strong hands-on capabilities
- Deep expertise in financial planning, forecasting, modeling, and business analytics
- Experience with SaaS, subscription, recurring-revenue, or hybrid business models
- A record of building or modernizing FP&A systems, tools, and processes
- Experience partnering with executive teams, Boards, and investors
- The ability to connect financial performance with commercial and operational drivers
- A balance of larger-company structure and growth-stage agility
- Private equity-backed or investor-driven business experience preferred
